Sustainability Lab

The world of packaging is moving towards reducing plastic-based or multilayer materials. ACMA is making extensive efforts to support this cause with the Sustainability Lab, a project that is attracting the attention of some of the most important companies in the world of Consumer Goods Market and packaging materials producers.

The Laboratory aims is to verify the behaviour and machinability of new green materials for different technologies, such as wrapping and flow packing. The process simulates the industrial conditions of a running machine without the necessity to stop customers' production, finding the best set of parameters to handle the material tested and guaranteeing excellent packaging quality - a real trademark for ACMA. If necessary, ACMA’s product engineers can design new machine upgrade kits, supporting customers to extend the life of the existing packaging equipment.

ACMA Sustainability Lab

The activities carried out with the Sustainability Lab involve several phases supported by a multidisciplinary team of ACMA experts in close collaboration with the Coesia Engineering Center (CEC), the central R&D asset of the Coesia group focused on technology innovation and research on green packaging materials.

In addition, the Sustainability Lab generates essential synergies, an occasion to share fundamental knowledge on green packaging. In this way, it is possible to join different experiences and expertise, driving together through the same common goal: to find the perfect technology solution, invest in more green materials and contribute actively to the development of a better sustainable future.

Material Gate

Part of the Sustainability Lab, Material Gate is a patented twist wrapping material testing unit with a built-in servomotor system engineered to replicate the primary packaging of various products. The unit runs simulations of how new sustainable materials perform on current packaging machinery when being applied to Confectionery products like flat base and round chocolate pralines or candies.
